District Jail set to welcome inmates, finally
ITANAGAR, Nov 1: District Jail, located at sprawling location in Jully Village is set to welcome its first inmates on Tuesday.
SP Prison and jail superintendent Michi Paku when contacted said that Deputy Commissioners and SPs of Papum Pare and Capital Region have been informed to arrange for shifting the under trial prisoners (UTP) to the jail.
The Rs 3 crore-
Apart from seven sub jails, there are two district jails in the state. The Tezu district jail has all the required infrastructure including an auditorium and a separate cells for juveniles and VIP visitors!! However, it is currently being occupied by the CRPF as its camp!
The 11th Finance Commission had sanctioned Rs 10 crore for construction of jail infrastructure in the state in 2000.

The state government had come under severe criticism from National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) last year for keeping the UTPs in police lock ups under inhuman and unhygienic conditions, in violation of Supreme Court guidelines.
Swearing in of Khandu ministry
ITANAGAR, Nov 1: Eleven Ministers in the Dorjee Khandu led Congress government would be sworn in at Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan on Nov 2. Official sources said that Governor would administer oath of office and secrecy to the ministers at a programe scheduled to be held in the afternoon.
Seven from the previous ministry is likely to be retained while four new faces including one from Tirap are likely to be inducted.
APPSU dharna against Chinese claim
ITANAGAR, Nov 1: All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union would organise a dharna on Nov 3 at Jantar Mantar Delhi to protest repeated Chinese claim on Arunachal. Speaking to this daily, President of the Union Takam Tatung said that young generation of the state wants to send a strong message across to Beijing that Arunachal is a part of India. It would be good if China realizes this undisputable fact, he said denouncing the Chinese claims.
China had angered India when it resented Prime Minister’s visit last month. The protest came when Arunachal was voting to elect its members to the Legislative Assembly on Oct 13.
North East student’s organisations would join AAPSU at the dharna. A meeting was conducted at Arunachal Bhavan in Delhi today to chalk out the plans with the organisations.

CM, Governor greet people on Guru Nanak’s Jayanti
ITANAGAR, Nov 1: Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and Governor J J Singh has greeted the people on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
In a message, Khandu expressed the hope that the occasion will enunciate and spread the message of universal goodwill, love and compassion.
He appealed all to “cut off the roots of three dangerous poison, greed, hatred and illusion” as preached by Guru Nanak.

Frontier celebrate its 18th Parents’ Day
ZIRO, Nov 1: The 18th Parents Day of Frontier School, Ziro was celebrated yesterday amidst a great pomp and show.
M B Bista, mentioned that the school is upgrading to 10+2 from next session as he mentioned that the paper works for the upgradation with CBSE, Delhi is already over and IC Committee has already been constituted by the board.
Parents appealed the authority to further strengthen the quality of education. They requested the authority to make Frontier a model school in the state.

ITANAGAR: The Para Bazar Women Welfare Society, Ziro joins other NGOs and civil societies in condemning kidnapping and killing of late Dusu Halle, s/o Dusu Tachang. The Society feels that an exemplary punishment needs to be awarded to the accused, as the case falls under the category of rarest of the rare cases. Go easy with the APCS forms
Dear Editor,
With the APCS yet to declare the date for the preliminary exam, I would like to make an earnest appeal to the authorities concerned to be lenient while checking the APCS forms of the students applying for the said exam.
As a known fact, the APCS this year created lots of confusion. The advertisement gave a different information while the form and information brochure prescribed something else. For instance, when I went to the APCS office to get the information regarding the mode of payment, one officer asked me to make a challan while the other told me to make a draft.
Making corrections later in the state newspapers do not justify their mistakes. How can one expect a person residing in a remote place in the state to read the paper daily when the newspaper doesn't even reach most of our dist. headquarters. Not to speak of the vast population studying or being employed outside the state.
Hence, I would like to make an earnest appeal on behalf of all the applicants that some relaxation be given during the scrutiny of the forms.

‘Mortal threat’
Dear Editor,
I am not that type of person who for slightest reason will march for any social cause but the appeal of little Late Dusu Halley (Robin) has touched the very core of my humanity.
I am appalled and even angered and have been forced to vent my frustration. I understand there are many like me, who are feeling the same anguish of hurt and resentment. I resent for failing to understand the mindset of a killer of a cute and smiling Robin, any sane person would love to cuddle such cute child but not insane person who involved in such gruesome act of murder.
Persons like the killer of Robin are a mortal threat to the very fabric of a civilized society; no amount of condemnation is enough to condemn such drastic and brutal act. I appeal to the concerned magistrate to strongly deal with the case so that a message of warning is sent wide across the Arunachal society that such inhuman act will not be tolerated.

Put an end to racism
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I would like to state that, atrocities committed to the NE people in other parts of country, particularly in Delhi, has become a major cause of concern for North East students including Arunachali students studying in other states of the country besides other NE people who are working in various capacities outside the North East.
When the memory of the incident that occurred in Patna railway station few years back where some of Naga girls were raped and some of Arunachali girls molested remains afresh in the mind of the NE students, it is unfortunate that again one Naga girl from Manipur was murdered by IIT scholar in South Delhi.
The harassment, rape, murder, molestation, racial discrimination etc in national capital has become a common thing. Last year some northeastern students including a Arunachali student of MANIT (Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology) Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) were mercilessly beaten up and one Naga student also reportedly committed suicide.
Failure of Delhi Police to giving justice to the people of northeastern and non registration of cases are big question marks. Why it happens repeatedly? Why students and people of northeastern are being targeted? Why there is discrimination between the people of Delhi and other parts of India? Why Delhi governments take our cases so lightly? Are we different from that of other Indians? So many questions come up in our mind.
I would like to appeal all NGOs, students unions, intellectuals and general public to raise voice against atrocities committed to our brothers and sisters, particularly staying in Delhi and other states of India in general. This kind of incidents should not take place again in any part of India.

Expulsion illegal
Dear Editor,
Apropos the news item published in your esteemed daily on Oct 11 regarding my expulsion from INC for a period of six years, I would like to inform that the expulsion was illegal and baseless as there was no reason behind such drastic step.
I have not done anything against the INC party in the recently held assembly election, I was not issued any show cause notice as per party’s rules.
I have been working for the INC party dedicatedly and will work in future too for the cause of party.
